INFORMATION FOR VISITORS TO
UNIVERSITY SCHOOLS’ BOARD OF GOVERNORS MEETINGS

WELCOME!

The University Schools Board of Governors welcomes interested parties to these Board meetings.  Our public school relies upon the support and input of the public!

Please note that the B.O.G. meetings are working business meetings run according to “Roberts Rules of Order”.  A period of time is allocated at the beginning of the meeting during which you may use up to 5 minutes to address the board. After the item of your interest has been presented and discussed, you are welcome to stay for the remainder of the meeting. It is not always appropriate to publicly discuss all aspects of University Schools’ business, so there may be occasions requiring closed Executive Sessions. At this time, all visitors must excuse themselves from the meeting.

You may contact one of the Co-Chairs of the Board or the Director of University Schools before the meeting to ensure any necessary preparation by the B.O.G. to support your discussion. You may also simply attend the meeting and  raise your hand during Community Discussion time. The Co-Chair will note those waiting to address the Board and call on them in turn for their comments.  The agenda of the business meeting is set in advance and there may not be sufficient time in that meeting to fully address your comments, but the Board will consider them and make the appropriate response when needed.

During Board discussions of other agenda items, only current Board members and school officials should participate.  If you would like to make a comment directly related to a current discussion, please raise your hand and wait to be called upon.  Most of the time the Co-Chair will call on you.   If the Co-Chair does NOT call on you during this time remember that this is a business working meeting and not all issues can be open to public discussion.

Not everyone on the Board agrees with each other, and it’s possible you won’t agree with them, either. Please remember that every decision is made after considering the most information available and always with the best interest of University Schools’ at heart. Treating each other with respect and dignity is what makes this process  possible.

We sincerely thank you for your interest and support of University Schools.
