K-12 Library Program and Collection

The University Schools’ Libraries provide a comprehensive K–12 program designed to meet students’ needs at developmentally appropriate levels. Library lessons are tailored to each grade to support learning goals and student growth. In addition, the libraries offer enrichment opportunities such as Battle of the Books, makerspaces, book clubs, and book fairs.
The library collections are carefully curated for elementary, middle, and high school students. When selecting new materials, Ms. Budzynski and Ms. Widel collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and students, while consulting trusted professional resources including School Library Journal, The Horn Book, and Booklist. They also review materials for age appropriateness to ensure students have access to relevant and suitable resources. A collection development policy guides this process, ensuring that materials align with the needs of each grade level.
